2005 Special Report2007 Special ReportSustainable Florida - Collins Center published several reports over the past few years. Below you will find copies of studies, summaries of best practice award winning endeavors, case studies for use in the class room and more.

In collaboration with Partner-Florida Trend magazine and other Council Partners, Sustainable Florida - Collins Center has promoted sustainable development across Florida, best practices award winners and its continuing efforts to create a more sustainable Florida.

Leading the Charge

Since the inception of the awards program in 1998, Sustainable Florida has honored those who exemplify leadership and best practices for sustainability. Sustainable Florida annually recognizes businesses, organizations and individuals whose work demonstrates that a healthy environment and a healthy economy are mutually supportive. Governor Charlie Crist and the Florida Cabinet honored the 2007 Sustainable Florida Best Practice and the Legacy Award recipients with a Resolution commending them for their efforts to create a sustainable Florida.. We seek applications from a diversity of sectors, including industry, communities, education, finance, investment, government, built environment and public interest groups. Sustainable Florida Best Practice Award categories include:

  • Leadership Award
  • Non-Profit Award
  • Green Building Award
  • Business Partnership Award

Awards and recognition is only one part. Promoting best practices statewide is equally important so that others may benefit from their accomplishments and ultimately implement similar or equally successful practices.

Previous CSF Reports

Sustainable Florida - Collins Center worked with the Department of Community Affairs Florida Coast Management Program and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration to identify key elements of success in building coastal communities. This 2002 report looked at lessons learned in seven Florida communities.
