Abstract- Cobblefield
The Cobblefield development is the first "green home" community built
by G.W. Robinson, a Gainesville, Florida development and construction
company. This development was designed and constructed to protect ecosystems,
conserve natural resources, create a green circulation system, employ
green utility practices, provide resource-driven amenities, operate under
existing covenants and deed restrictions, and provide educational information
to help achieve and promote green living practices. The environmental
features of Cobblefield homes are also creating energy cost savings for
residents and higher sales and a doubled market share for G.W. Robinson.
This case study presents the factors evaluated by G.W. Robinson when
deciding to build and market Cobblefield as a green home community. These
decision factors include market conditions favorable to green developments,
county zoning processes, community and neighborhood perception and support,
and the marketing benefit associated with energy savings and healthy
home benefits. This case study also documents the environmental, social,
and economical benefits realized during the construction and use of the
Cobblefield community. The case study provides a teaching plan, questions
and exhibits to assist in instruction.
